a few of my visual development stuff for school, character expressions, poses, environment etc. i chose the story Hansel and Gretel and made the characters into animals instead. we were told to explore as much as possible, and it was my first time using water color and cut outs so yeah it was pretty fun ;)

2011 resolution #6.
one of my goals for 2011 is to finish at least a one page comic, and i'm pretty happy to say that... i have completed a colored page just 11 days after the new year started!
(click picture to enlarge and read)
i would say it's pretty accurate on how my thoughts were on the first day of school, but now i've come to like animation a lot! ;) i did detest it at first - maybe it's because i had no idea how it was like - but it has successfully captured my interest and now i have a passion for it! creating new stories for everyone to enjoy, that is really really satisfying and fulfilling!

chinese new year
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!
in case anyone is wondering, the chinese words means Gong Xi Fa Cai which roughly means Congratulations and be prosperous. ;)
today's the first day of chinese new year, and my sister said something meaningful: if the 2011 isn't that great yet, at least you can restart the year today! my family did the same thing today as any other previous years - visited my grandmother and cousins. because the relatives at my mom's side does not celebrate CNY (they're filipinos) so every year we'll hang out with the relatives at my dad's side.
i've also started this CNY illustration yesterday night, and finished it after i came home from a full day of red packets, monopoly deal, and slacking around. it isn't perfect, and i think i would probably redo it and improve on it a little bit more... but now i've kind of lost interest in it. ;( so not redoing anytime soon, unless there's time or if it sparks my interest again.
i wanted to make the girl have a little cheeky look as she peels the orange but mmhmm. don't know if that turned out the way i wanted it too... something feels a bit wrong. and she's looks a bit like me - messy hair, bangs, but minus the spectacles. comments on improvement, anyone? ;)

studio gesture drawings
compiled a few gesture drawings for assessment last monday!
gesture drawings in year 2 is a bit different from year 1 in school, now we have to use pen/ink/brush instead of pencils. had to experiment a lot because i was really not familiar with ink, i barely touched the pen while drawing in year one! it was pretty hard at first, but i think it takes some getting use to.
chinese brush pens are nice for fast gestures i think. my teacher encouraged us to use them for 30s - 1m gestures... but mine in the picture above were probably 3m - 5m. still got lots to learn and practice!

first!
hello my lovely new art blog! ;)
if anyone's wondering why it's cinnamon-apples, it's because Kezia means cassia, aka the chinese cinnamon, and apples are healthy! yeah well... i was thinking real hard okay.
anyway, will be posting my art works up real soon (probably tonight)... i'm nearing the end of my second year in NYP and it's getting a lot more hectic with assignments deadline and Studio Project 4 coming up! ;) but now i have to get to school for the IAP results. eek hope it'll turn out okay!!
